SharePoint 2013 Beta - Montag, 16.

Apply MasterPages and CSS files to all Subsites

Solution 1:

To inherit all subsites from the main site just open the Site Settings of your branded site and go to "Look and Feel - Master page".

There you can "Reset" all subsites to your branded master page.

Solution 2:

You can also do this via Powershell - try this:

$site = Get-SPSite "http://serverUrl"
foreach ($web in $site.AllWebs) {
   $web.CustomMasterUrl = "/_catalogs/masterpage/custom.master"
   $web.Update()
}

Theming in SharePoint 2010 and Office 365 - Create a Theme by using PowerPoint 2010

A Theme for SharePoint 2010 includes just changes for Colors and Fontsettings and
can be done very easy by PowerPoint 2010.

But for comprehensive design customizations you still need to create your own CSS.
And for that purpose, "Plug 'n Play Branding for SharePoint 2010" will be the right tool.

Below I will show you how to create a Theme for SharePoint 2010 by using PowerPoint 2010:

1) First open PowerPoint, and go to the TAB "Design".

2) Now open the "Colors" Menu and click "Create New Theme Colors".

3) Choose the colors you wish, enter a name for the theme, and save the presentation as *.thmx file.

User Profile Name from Active Directory Import Issue - Wrong User Name

Issue:

If you are creating a Active Directory Synchronization Connection to import all user profiles from you domain, the User Name has the wrong Domain Name (mydomain\user01).

Reason:
Your Netbios Domain Name is different to your FQDN (Full Qualified Domain Name).

Example:
FQDN Domain Name: mydomain.company.com
Netbios Domain Name: mydn
User Logon Name will be: mydn\user01
UserProfile Name from AD Import will be: mydomain\user01

Solution:

You have to enable NetBiosDomainNames for SharePoint. If you already have an existing AD User Profile Connection, you have to delete this connection first.

1) open the SharePoint Management Shell

2) enter "Get-SPServiceApplication" and copy the "Id" of the User Profile Service

3) enter "$mySA = Get-SPServiceApplication 1324567-1234-1234-1234-1234567812 (paste the "Id" here)

4) enter "$mySA.NetBIOSDomainNamesEnabled = 1

5) enter "$mySA.update()

To valdate if "NetBIOSDomainNamesEnabled" is enabled enter: "$mySA.NetBIOSDomainNamesEnabled"
It should be "True" now.

Now open SharePoint Central Administration again and re-create the Active Directory Synchronization Connection.

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one ore more of the following reasons

Issue:

If you try to open a SharePoint 2010 list within the "Datasheet View" the following error appears:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one ore more of the following reasons:

   - A datasheet component cmopatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.

   - Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.

   - A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.

datasheet_view_issue.png

Environment: SharePoint Server Enterprise 2010, Office 2010 64-bit, IE 8 32-bit, IE 9 32-bit

Solution:

There are two Microsoft components necessary to be able to use the "Datasheet View":

   - 2007 Office System Driver Data Connectivity Components
     http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=7554f536-8c28-4598-9b72-ef94e038c891

   - Microsoft Office Access Runtime and Data Connectivity 2007 SP2
     http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=6F4EDEED-D83F-4C31-AE67-458AE365D420

After installing these two packages, you should be able to use the "DataSheet View".

"Pause for Duration" Workflow Activity stops working after activating RBS on SharePoint 2010

Issue:

After installing and enabling RBS (Remote Blob Storage) on a SharePoint 2010 Server and on the SQL Server 2008 R2, a SharePoint Designer Workflow with a time based activity like "Pause for duration" or "Pause until Date" stops working and throws an error like "The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information".

Solution:

Uninstall/Disable RBS for the specific SharePoint Content database. (there is no hotfix at the moment available)

Start the SharePoint Management Shell and enter the following PS Script:

$myCDB = get-SPContentDatabase "dbname"
$myRBS = $myCDB.RemoteBlobStorageSettings
$myRBS.SetActiveProviderName("")
$myRBS.Migrate()

This commands will disable RBS and will migrate all external data back into the SQL Server Content Database.
